During

Despite the cold December weather, our team pushed through the chilly temperatures and occasional rain to bring this pond project to life.
One of the key milestones was excavating the area and shaping the pond, ensuring the design would flow seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. We carefully selected and placed Columbia Granite stones around the pond to create natural, rugged edges, setting the foundation for the water feature to feel like a part of the environment. The pond was designed not only for visual appeal but also to support local wildlife, creating a serene and functional water source for the area.
We used exclusively AquaScape pond products for this build, as we do for all the water features we create. We used a skimmer, biofalls, and water feature lights to make this pond come to life. Here at Brookside Landscape and Design we are recognized as a Master Certified AquaScape Contractor. We use their products because of their superior manufacturing, wide range of products, and excellent customer service.
The pond was placed in front of the home owners kitchen window providing a perfect spot for them to relax and take in the calming sound of the water from inside as well as outside. Despite the challenging winter conditions, the pond became a stunning feature of the landscape, offering a tranquil, year-round retreat.
Challenges
During the project, we encountered a few challenges, including:
- Limited Access: This pond was built inside a fenced in front yard and the gate was too small for any of our machines so every shovel of dirt had to be wheelbarrowed out and every rock was set by hand and dolly.
- Limited Storage Space for Material: We didn’t want to ruin the grass these homeowners had in their front yard by putting big boulders on it, so we were limited on where to stage materials until they went into the pond. We ended up having to place down sheets of plywood and storing rocks and materials on the shoulder of the road. Luckily it wasn’t a very busy neighborhood.
- Poorly installed drainage and irrigation system: Once excavation for the pond began, we discovered that underneath the old pond, was a very shallow drain collecting water from the downspouts and also a strangely designed irrigation system also running through the bottom of the pond. This required us to complete some work that we didn’t expect to get the drain and the irrigation out of our way but still functional.
After

The result is a stunning pond right next to the homeowners front door. Every person that drives by or walks up to the house is greeted by the sound of running water, birds splashing in the water, and a living thriving ecosystem so close to home.
The homeowners are thrilled with the transformation of their water feature and have expressed their gratitude for our team’s hard work and dedication.
